Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Power, Auto and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.21%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 4.42% or 5.60 points to trade at 132.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 1.94% or 83.95 points to end at 4,419.65 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 1.42% or 15.80 points to 1,130.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 5.67% or 208.25 points to trade at 3,463.35 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 4.42% or 36.25 points to end at 784.40 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was down 3.18% or 281.15 points to 8,547.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 1.99% to 4,420.15, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 0.46% to settle at 803.45 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 0.41% to close at 160.40.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 3.16% to 8,544.40 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 2.77% to settle at 2,622.20 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 2.55% to 1,156.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1242 to 606 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2008 fell and 1392 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) rose to all time highs; rising 1.42% or 15.80 to 1,130.75. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.46% or 3.70 to 803.45.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.00% to 21.36.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1,672.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.82% or 3.04 to hit $82.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.62% or 3.08 to trade at $88.22 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.37% to 81.81, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 79.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 112.29.
