Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.20% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 1.14% or 10.85 points to trade at 961.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) fell 0.65% or 2.45 points to end at 379.80 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) was up 0.95% or 10.30 points to 1088.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 10.05% or 37.10 points to trade at 331.60 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) declined 3.41% or 45.75 points to end at 1299.45 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 3.55% or 107.05 points to 2921.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 0.29% to 1130.00, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 0.11% to settle at 2152.65 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 0.00% to close at 1387.60.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 3.35% to 1299.45 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 3.22% to settle at 2921.90 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.80% to 185.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1197 to 379 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1745 fell and 653 advanced, while 145 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.42% to 26.3650.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.32% or 4.15 to $1289.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.37% or 0.23 to hit $61.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.40 to trade at $69.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.07% to 69.635, while EUR/INR rose 0.10% to 77.9925.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 97.335.
