Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Auto and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.19%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE), which rose 7.80% or 18.70 points to trade at 258.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) added 1.23% or 1.95 points to end at 160.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 0.95% or 25.20 points to 2675.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grasim Industries Ltd. (NS:GRAS), which fell 6.61% or 342.85 points to trade at 4843.50 at the close. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 4.32% or 4.20 points to end at 92.95 and ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) was down 3.98% or 67.05 points to 1618.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 0.88% to 2673.90, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was up 0.31% to settle at 338.00 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 229.00.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.63% to 1002.80 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which lost 2.56% to settle at 3320.20 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.47% to 239.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1136 to 336 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1238 fell and 391 advanced, while 38 ended unchanged.
Shares in Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.32% or 4.20 to 92.95.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.65% to 14.9225.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.91% or 12.25 to $1358.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.03% or 0.44 to hit $42.33 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.71% or 0.32 to trade at $44.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.11% to 66.695, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 74.5110.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.52% at 95.56.
