Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Banking and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 15.73% or 50.10 points to trade at 373.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 2.39% or 6.70 points to end at 287.30 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 2.01% or 4.45 points to 225.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which fell 12.53% or 46.85 points to trade at 326.10 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 6.51% or 48.50 points to end at 699.30 and Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) was down 5.28% or 11.60 points to 207.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 1.71% to 1951.95, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 1.51% to settle at 224.75 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.17% to close at 1300.55.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 5.46% to 207.65 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 5.40% to settle at 2456.20 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 3.82% to 343.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1319 to 292 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1920 fell and 564 advanced, while 126 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 6.83% to 18.8975 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 2.85 to $1300.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.81% or 0.97 to hit $52.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 1.03 to trade at $60.56 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.33% to 71.135, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 81.1820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 95.477.
