Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Auto, Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.08%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL), which rose 2.57% or 6.65 points to trade at 265.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) added 2.33% or 3.00 points to end at 131.95 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 1.97% or 10.25 points to 531.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 7.15% or 1548.95 points to trade at 20124.00 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 4.80% or 6.30 points to end at 124.85 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was down 3.27% or 20.65 points to 610.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.15% to 532.00, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.61% to settle at 88.60 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.26% to close at 418.45.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 3.29% to 610.50 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.68% to settle at 196.45 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.57% to 3330.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1033 to 581 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1548 fell and 1018 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.37% to 21.6725.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.76% or 15.00 to $1955.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.52% or 0.22 to hit $42.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.20 to trade at $44.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 74.906, while EUR/INR rose 0.08% to 88.4420.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 93.248.
