Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 0.85% or 31.60 points to trade at 3,770.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) added 0.76% or 68.60 points to end at 9,074.15 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 0.58% or 5.85 points to 1,019.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 3.72% or 59.70 points to trade at 1,544.35 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 3.24% or 410.85 points to end at 12,271.90 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was down 2.51% or 7.10 points to 275.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 0.41% to 3,999.00, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 0.17% to settle at 2,531.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.17% to close at 1,550.00.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.64% to 1,545.60 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 3.17% to settle at 12,275.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.43% to 275.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1484 to 701 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2254 fell and 1442 advanced, while 96 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.83% to 11.53.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.88% or 44.70 to $2,417.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.39% or 1.18 to hit $86.20 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 1.11 to trade at $90.85 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 83.45, while EUR/INR fell 0.55% to 88.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 105.67.
