Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Real Estate and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.97%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 3.75% or 31.70 points to trade at 876.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 2.89% or 26.80 points to end at 955.50 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was up 2.45% or 10.65 points to 444.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which fell 16.88% or 174.65 points to trade at 859.90 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 7.22% or 47.25 points to end at 607.55 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was down 3.59% or 11.80 points to 317.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.92% to 955.70, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.55% to settle at 2708.35 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 0.87% to close at 302.10.
The worst performers were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 16.84% to 860.50 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 7.18% to settle at 608.35 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 3.57% to 317.20 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1201 to 378 and 16 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1860 fell and 832 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) fell to 3-years lows; down 16.88% or 174.65 to 859.90. Shares in Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) fell to 3-years lows; losing 16.84% or 174.20 to 860.50. Shares in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.55% or 41.35 to 2708.35.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.65% to 13.2375 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.65 to $1276.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $57.30 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.16 to trade at $64.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.68% to 65.035, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 75.2121.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 94.99.
