Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Metals, Public Sector Undertakings and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.95%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 2.00% or 2.25 points to trade at 114.95 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 1.87% or 2.70 points to end at 147.15 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was up 1.65% or 117.40 points to 7249.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 4.77% or 52.05 points to trade at 1039.90 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 4.14% or 14.05 points to end at 325.15 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was down 4.09% or 17.95 points to 420.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 2.48% to 115.50, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 1.60% to settle at 7247.80 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 1.24% to close at 1921.00.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 4.79% to 1039.75 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.58% to settle at 385.60 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.86% to 4489.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1202 to 466 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1825 fell and 1052 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.84% to 25.5600.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.46% or 7.75 to $1692.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.88% or 1.20 to hit $65.03 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.11% or 1.41 to trade at $68.15 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.42% to 73.037, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 87.2140.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 91.933.
