Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the IT, Banking and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.94% to hit a new 6-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 3.43% or 20.55 points to trade at 622.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.05% or 16.25 points to end at 806.90 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 1.48% or 2.45 points to 168.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 8.65% or 17.15 points to trade at 180.70 at the close. AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) declined 4.51% or 25.30 points to end at 537.70 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 3.77% or 37.85 points to 966.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 2.09% to 168.85, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 1.41% to settle at 1044.70 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.13% to close at 2505.55.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 8.97% to 180.55 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 4.04% to settle at 537.35 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.14% to 1445.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 891 to 696 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1397 fell and 1066 advanced, while 138 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.65% or 17.15 to 180.70. Shares in Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) fell to 52-week lows; down 8.97% or 17.80 to 180.55.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.42% to 19.2325.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.74% or 9.10 to $1238.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.56% or 1.05 to hit $66.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.24% or 0.95 to trade at $75.94 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 73.325, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 83.2355.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 96.54.
