Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Auto, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.91%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 2.20% or 19.15 points to trade at 890.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 1.44% or 10.45 points to end at 740.45 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) was up 1.71% or 10.25 points to 612.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 4.50% or 5.15 points to trade at 109.60 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) declined 2.90% or 191.75 points to end at 6417.25 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was down 2.56% or 56.40 points to 2140.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 1.28% to 349.45, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 0.92% to settle at 1448.70 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 0.23% to close at 172.35.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 4.36% to 109.55 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 3.39% to settle at 6412.45 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 2.63% to 2140.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 799 to 782 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1238 fell and 1142 advanced, while 161 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.36% to 14.6100.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 4.90 to $1401.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.91% or 0.52 to hit $57.59 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 1.05 to trade at $65.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 69.615, while EUR/INR rose 0.37% to 78.7775.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 96.093.
