Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Sector Undertakings and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.87% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which rose 3.70% or 59.45 points to trade at 1664.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 1.55% or 4.95 points to end at 323.55 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 1.28% or 2.20 points to 173.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which fell 4.03% or 11.50 points to trade at 273.80 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 3.55% or 42.60 points to end at 1158.25 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was down 3.46% or 8.95 points to 249.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 3.87% to 1666.15, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was up 1.43% to settle at 323.15 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which gained 1.02% to close at 332.50.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 4.06% to 274.00 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which lost 3.36% to settle at 251.45 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was down 2.84% to 2775.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1210 to 393 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1764 fell and 833 advanced, while 156 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 1.02% or 3.35 to 332.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.55% to 14.4150.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.40 to $1204.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.06% or 0.73 to hit $69.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.14% or 0.89 to trade at $78.94 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.25% to 72.720, while EUR/INR rose 0.23% to 84.9505.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 94.16.
