Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Metals and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.81%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 3.51% or 72.50 points to trade at 2149.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 2.81% or 156.75 points to end at 5729.80 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 2.97% or 20.10 points to 692.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which fell 4.00% or 22.15 points to trade at 533.05 at the close. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) declined 3.52% or 9.80 points to end at 268.90 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) was down 2.77% or 8.20 points to 286.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 2.22% to 1604.10, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 1.99% to settle at 1294.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.23% to close at 1936.70.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 3.54% to 1316.05 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 3.21% to settle at 286.40 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.21% to 464.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1192 to 409 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1807 fell and 734 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) rose to all time highs; rising 3.51% or 72.50 to 2149.65. Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) rose to all time highs; rising 2.22% or 34.85 to 1604.10. Shares in Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.99% or 25.25 to 1294.25. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.23% or 23.45 to 1936.70.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 5.54% to 14.1500.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.26% or 3.30 to $1286.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $71.50 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.27 to trade at $79.57 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.32% to 68.031, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 80.1719.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.50.
