Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Public Sector Undertakings, Real Estate and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.76%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 2.68% or 165.15 points to trade at 6,321.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) added 2.60% or 167.35 points to end at 6,604.70 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) was up 2.28% or 83.20 points to 3,735.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 4.69% or 21.40 points to trade at 434.80 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 4.27% or 209.80 points to end at 4,699.05 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was down 3.89% or 23.90 points to 590.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 2.56% to 6,309.95, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 2.26% to settle at 501.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 2.09% to close at 1,666.15.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.76% to 137.40 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 2.72% to settle at 316.05 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 2.26% to 707.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1833 to 347 and 26 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2869 fell and 972 advanced, while 86 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.98% to 16.06 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.20% or 4.15 to $2,034.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.91% or 0.70 to hit $76.14 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.77 to trade at $81.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.00, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 89.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 104.00.
