Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.76%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 4.26% or 197.10 points to trade at 4825.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 2.36% or 5.10 points to end at 220.95 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 2.16% or 17.05 points to 806.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which fell 4.35% or 8.00 points to trade at 175.80 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 2.44% or 3.70 points to end at 147.75 and Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) was down 2.34% or 477.85 points to 19910.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 2.10% to 805.95, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.09% to settle at 1012.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 0.77% to close at 7109.00.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 2.22% to 6007.00 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.92% to settle at 168.60 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.70% to 906.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1011 to 602 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1519 fell and 1109 advanced, while 159 ended unchanged.

Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) rose to all time highs; rising 2.16% or 17.05 to 806.30. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.10% or 16.60 to 805.95. Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.09% or 10.95 to 1012.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.24% to 20.1000.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.10% or 21.65 to $1948.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $40.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.02 to trade at $42.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 73.617, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 86.8195.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.237.
