Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Metals, Power and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 4.23% or 18.55 points to trade at 458.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 2.01% or 7.25 points to end at 368.15 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 0.57% or 8.05 points to 1410.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which fell 2.99% or 23.00 points to trade at 746.10 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 2.37% or 3.35 points to end at 138.25 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 2.52% or 21.75 points to 843.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which rose 1.73% to 367.15, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 0.49% to settle at 1409.35 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 0.30% to close at 152.20.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 3.02% to 745.75 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.28% to settle at 539.95 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.10% to 307.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 967 to 619 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1437 fell and 1075 advanced, while 147 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.02% to 19.1600.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1228.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.17% or 0.64 to hit $53.99 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.85% or 0.54 to trade at $62.94 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.25% to 70.927, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 81.0280.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 96.268.
