Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.63%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 2.40% or 46.60 points to trade at 1996.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 1.65% or 20.20 points to end at 1239.40 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 1.43% or 12.90 points to 914.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 4.49% or 55.40 points to trade at 1173.95 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) declined 3.05% or 64.40 points to end at 2046.20 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 2.74% or 10.50 points to 372.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 2.86% to 1996.95, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.59% to settle at 1239.60 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 1.27% to close at 913.00.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 2.99% to 2046.55 in late trade, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which lost 2.87% to settle at 376.05 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.77% to 372.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1367 to 247 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2090 fell and 539 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged.
Shares in Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.65% or 20.20 to 1239.40. Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.59% or 19.35 to 1239.60.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.30% to 13.8825.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1298.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.70% or 0.46 to hit $65.35 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.46% or 1.12 to trade at $75.67 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.31% to 67.145, while EUR/INR rose 0.75% to 78.6976.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 93.78.
