Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Auto and Green Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.62%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which rose 2.00% or 95.75 points to trade at 4,871.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 1.13% or 12.50 points to end at 1,114.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 1.13% or 1.25 points to 112.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 3.07% or 105.60 points to trade at 3,331.85 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 2.23% or 28.85 points to end at 1,264.60 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) was down 2.17% or 17.65 points to 795.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 1.22% to 112.05, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 1.18% to settle at 4,525.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.16% to close at 1,114.55.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.08% to 1,266.50 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 1.78% to settle at 2,615.30 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.58% to 8,815.10 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1136 to 767 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1981 rose and 1381 declined, while 129 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.67% to 13.45.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.35 to $1,814.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.07% or 0.06 to hit $81.28 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.10 to trade at $86.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.27% to 81.34, while EUR/INR rose 0.29% to 85.60.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 104.53.
