Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Auto, Banking and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.59%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 7.63% or 7.80 points to trade at 110.05 at the close. Meanwhile, GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 7.11% or 9.55 points to end at 143.95 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 4.69% or 19.30 points to 431.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which fell 2.47% or 141.15 points to trade at 5564.00 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 2.18% or 19.95 points to end at 895.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 2.17% or 7.15 points to 323.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 7.73% to 110.10, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 3.93% to settle at 103.25 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which gained 3.50% to close at 2472.80.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.44% to 5565.00 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which lost 2.12% to settle at 1947.00 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.08% to 895.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 935 to 717 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1589 rose and 1275 declined, while 146 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.17% to 21.5425.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.56% or 9.95 to $1782.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $61.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $64.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.28% to 72.608, while EUR/INR fell 0.05% to 87.6015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 90.752.
