Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.56%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which rose 3.53% or 60.50 points to trade at 1772.55 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 3.07% or 20.90 points to end at 700.85 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.63% or 24.30 points to 947.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK), which fell 6.05% or 23.10 points to trade at 358.70 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 3.99% or 6.05 points to end at 145.65 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was down 3.50% or 39.15 points to 1079.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 3.46% to 1770.15, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.99% to settle at 701.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.75% to close at 947.95.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 6.11% to 358.50 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 3.47% to settle at 1080.00 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 3.12% to 431.65 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1215 to 410 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1723 fell and 795 advanced, while 152 ended unchanged.
Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.07% or 20.90 to 700.85. Shares in Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) rose to all time highs; rising 2.63% or 24.30 to 947.15. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.99% or 20.35 to 701.00. Shares in Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.75% or 25.35 to 947.95.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.97% to 25.0175.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 2.16% or 40.95 to $1938.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.34% or 0.14 to hit $41.43 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.10 to trade at $43.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 74.775, while EUR/INR rose 0.69% to 87.6695.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 93.743.
