Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.55%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 2.61% or 3.90 points to trade at 152.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 2.29% or 6.15 points to end at 274.00 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.50% or 2.00 points to 135.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which fell 3.70% or 13.30 points to trade at 346.05 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.86% or 81.25 points to end at 2752.70 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was down 2.42% or 54.30 points to 2183.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 2.28% to 152.75, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.47% to settle at 135.00 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 1.19% to close at 165.90.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 3.08% to 2754.95 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 2.58% to settle at 1082.55 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.58% to 2182.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 932 to 663 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1405 fell and 1054 advanced, while 167 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.13% to 15.6275 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.27% or 3.65 to $1331.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.18% or 0.63 to hit $52.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.80 to trade at $60.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.34% to 69.316, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 78.0040.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 97.058.
