Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Real Estate and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 4.60% or 1032.50 points to trade at 23490.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 3.43% or 21.05 points to end at 634.00 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE) was up 2.32% or 6.30 points to 278.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which fell 5.91% or 41.75 points to trade at 664.40 at the close. Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) declined 3.20% or 5.20 points to end at 157.10 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) was down 1.96% or 8.95 points to 447.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which rose 1.86% to 277.10, Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was up 1.74% to settle at 1265.45 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which gained 1.31% to close at 3240.00.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 5.96% to 663.95 in late trade, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 2.00% to settle at 447.55 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.47% to 255.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 890 to 577 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1501 fell and 1059 advanced, while 172 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.52% to 16.8450.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.15 to $1173.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.29% or 0.15 to hit $51.08 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.20 to trade at $54.13 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 67.775, while EUR/INR rose 0.04% to 72.6400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 100.58.
