Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Green Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which rose 2.89% or 62.45 points to trade at 2222.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 2.20% or 17.40 points to end at 806.70 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 1.64% or 73.30 points to 4542.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART), which fell 4.97% or 48.85 points to trade at 934.00 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 3.34% or 40.60 points to end at 1176.40 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was down 3.15% or 11.15 points to 342.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which rose 2.79% to 2219.40, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 2.10% to settle at 805.55 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 1.90% to close at 4550.00.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 4.99% to 934.60 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 3.32% to settle at 1177.50 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 2.71% to 64.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1023 to 566 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1491 fell and 1014 advanced, while 176 ended unchanged.
Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.89% or 62.45 to 2222.00. Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.79% or 60.20 to 2219.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.19% to 24.0225 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.90 to $1877.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.66% or 1.37 to hit $36.02 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.30% or 1.31 to trade at $38.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.32% to 74.417, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 87.2355.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 93.580.
