Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Capital Goods and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which rose 2.35% or 11.00 points to trade at 480.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 1.69% or 9.05 points to end at 543.30 and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) was up 1.53% or 2.05 points to 135.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 5.57% or 154.35 points to trade at 2615.35 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 5.07% or 34.55 points to end at 647.55 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was down 4.13% or 5.95 points to 138.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 2.31% to 480.40, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 1.36% to settle at 182.90 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 0.95% to close at 1076.05.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 5.31% to 646.75 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 2.54% to settle at 139.85 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.92% to 2652.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1171 to 440 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1663 fell and 820 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.07% or 34.55 to 647.55. Shares in Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.31% or 36.25 to 646.75.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.75% to 15.8400.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.63% or 8.25 to $1310.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.80% or 0.42 to hit $52.30 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.12 to trade at $61.98 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.00% to 71.177, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 80.4455.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 96.627.
