Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.48% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which rose 2.08% or 203.60 points to trade at 10,000.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 1.74% or 21.45 points to end at 1,257.60 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 1.21% or 7.70 points to 644.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 3.73% or 93.85 points to trade at 2,419.25 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 3.24% or 11.40 points to end at 340.55 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was down 3.24% or 26.50 points to 792.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 2.22% to 9,981.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.09% to settle at 3,112.00 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 1.02% to close at 8,345.00.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.34% to 7,165.20 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.33% to settle at 3,250.65 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.20% to 1,376.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1009 to 999 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1790 rose and 1695 declined, while 144 ended unchanged.
Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) rose to all time highs; up 2.08% or 203.60 to 10,000.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.22% to 12.06.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.08% or 1.65 to $1,971.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.60% or 0.49 to hit $82.12 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.45 to trade at $85.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 82.75, while EUR/INR fell 0.40% to 89.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 103.43.
