Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.45%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 1.70% or 5.20 points to trade at 311.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 1.18% or 43.10 points to end at 3681.10 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was up 1.16% or 9.30 points to 808.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which fell 3.47% or 3.90 points to trade at 108.75 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 3.26% or 20.45 points to end at 607.70 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was down 3.09% or 8.50 points to 267.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 1.05% to 3678.40, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 0.91% to settle at 807.65 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 0.75% to close at 141.35.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 3.29% to 108.70 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 2.85% to settle at 1410.10 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 2.75% to 79.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 840 to 731 and 66 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1318 fell and 1102 advanced, while 150 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.18% or 43.10 to 3681.10. Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) rose to all time highs; rising 1.05% or 38.25 to 3678.40.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.10% to 14.9525.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.35% or 4.90 to $1416.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $59.45 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $65.64 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 69.019, while EUR/INR rose 0.04% to 78.5535.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 95.640.
