Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Green Energy and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.44%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 1.36% or 3.05 points to trade at 227.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 1.18% or 2.60 points to end at 223.35 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was up 0.95% or 15.60 points to 1,659.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL), which fell 3.83% or 101.55 points to trade at 2,548.20 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 2.83% or 81.15 points to end at 2,785.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 2.77% or 166.45 points to 5,846.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 1.20% to 223.40, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 1.02% to settle at 1,660.80 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 0.87% to close at 2,715.55.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 3.84% to 2,548.35 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 2.79% to settle at 2,788.10 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.57% to 5,857.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1175 to 730 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1837 fell and 1514 advanced, while 164 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.24% to 13.79 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.35% or 6.65 to $1,930.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.29% or 0.23 to hit $80.84 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.23% or 0.20 to trade at $86.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.08% to 81.18, while EUR/INR unchanged 0.00% to 87.96.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 101.99.
