Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Durables and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.44% to hit a new 52-week low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 2.57% or 135.65 points to trade at 5,419.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 2.47% or 282.95 points to end at 11,754.85 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 1.60% or 8.75 points to 554.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which fell 6.04% or 124.50 points to trade at 1,936.45 at the close. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) declined 4.05% or 17.10 points to end at 405.20 and Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) was down 3.56% or 666.10 points to 18,045.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 2.63% to 5,422.70, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.47% to settle at 11,758.40 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 1.43% to close at 688.10.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 6.06% to 1,935.35 in late trade, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which lost 4.07% to settle at 405.20 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 3.35% to 4,143.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1297 to 532 and 36 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2164 fell and 1048 advanced, while 93 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.05% or 17.10 to 405.20. Shares in Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.56% or 666.10 to 18,045.75. Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.07% or 17.20 to 405.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.48% to 22.76.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.45 to $1,849.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.30% or 0.35 to hit $117.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.44% or 0.53 to trade at $120.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 78.06, while EUR/INR fell 0.10% to 82.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 104.10.
