Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.44% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 3.56% or 176.90 points to trade at 5145.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 3.48% or 330.00 points to end at 9799.90 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 3.01% or 20.05 points to 686.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which fell 4.93% or 320.75 points to trade at 6189.00 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) declined 3.39% or 33.70 points to end at 960.90 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was down 3.34% or 83.35 points to 2409.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 3.70% to 9821.05, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 3.69% to settle at 5153.95 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 2.95% to close at 4610.00.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 4.70% to 6203.15 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 3.56% to settle at 961.40 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which was down 3.16% to 2414.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 955 to 680 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1586 rose and 1181 declined, while 163 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.27% to 22.4250.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1770.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.63% or 0.40 to hit $63.83 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.46 to trade at $67.51 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.21% to 75.004, while EUR/INR rose 0.36% to 90.3870.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 91.047.
