Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, IT and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.44%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 31.37% or 53.15 points to trade at 221.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 6.57% or 26.80 points to end at 433.45 and Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) was up 6.65% or 41.15 points to 656.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 3.61% or 11.90 points to trade at 315.65 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC) declined 3.85% or 5.00 points to end at 124.65 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was down 3.10% or 6.15 points to 191.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 30.73% to 221.00, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 4.55% to settle at 83.95 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 3.17% to close at 159.65.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.09% to 301.05 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.01% to settle at 739.80 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.66% to 1399.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 804 to 764 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1316 fell and 1135 advanced, while 118 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.10% or 6.15 to 191.75.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.27% to 15.7725.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.48% or 6.35 to $1308.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.76% or 0.41 to hit $54.31 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.80 to trade at $64.41 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.31% to 71.085, while EUR/INR rose 0.41% to 80.1235.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.998.
