Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.43%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 7.59% or 3.20 points to trade at 45.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 5.62% or 13.30 points to end at 251.50 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) was up 3.88% or 110.30 points to 2953.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which fell 5.17% or 26.65 points to trade at 490.65 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) declined 3.77% or 9.25 points to end at 234.25 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was down 3.07% or 6.60 points to 208.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 8.19% to 45.60, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.53% to settle at 672.75 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.03% to close at 2893.50.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was down 3.17% to 51.90 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.49% to settle at 324.80 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 2.43% to 126.45 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1063 to 510 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1556 fell and 841 advanced, while 210 ended unchanged.
Shares in Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.77% or 9.25 to 234.25. Shares in Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) fell to 3-years lows; down 2.49% or 8.30 to 324.80.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.42% to 17.8300 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.41% or 6.15 to $1506.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.59% or 0.31 to hit $53.12 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.29 to trade at $58.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.35% to 71.065, while EUR/INR rose 0.36% to 78.0010.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 98.572.
