Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Consumer Durables and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.42%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 5.29% or 17.55 points to trade at 349.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 1.85% or 66.10 points to end at 3,645.40 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 1.11% or 5.35 points to 487.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which fell 2.24% or 30.50 points to trade at 1,328.35 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 1.25% or 92.95 points to end at 7,363.95 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 1.24% or 24.10 points to 1,922.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 0.90% to 1,540.30, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 0.43% to settle at 245.60 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 0.21% to close at 1,505.50.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 1.32% to 7,359.55 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.00% to settle at 1,374.15 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.96% to 1,131.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced.
Shares in Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.29% or 17.55 to 349.35. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) rose to 3-years highs; up 0.21% or 3.20 to 1,505.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.41% to 11.19.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.95 to $1,951.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.15% or 0.12 to hit $78.38 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.17 to trade at $82.69 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 83.17, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 89.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 105.36.
