Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Banking and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.41%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 6.01% or 26.75 points to trade at 469.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 4.13% or 7.25 points to end at 182.65 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 2.75% or 5.90 points to 220.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which fell 3.49% or 23.70 points to trade at 659.25 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) declined 2.20% or 23.85 points to end at 1058.85 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC) was down 2.03% or 38.50 points to 1853.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 4.07% to 182.70, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 2.82% to settle at 220.50 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 2.39% to close at 2032.35.
The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 2.26% to 1058.80 in late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which lost 2.18% to settle at 1853.55 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.08% to 348.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1054 to 547 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1518 fell and 908 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 11.44% to 17.1150.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.12% or 1.55 to $1327.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $55.55 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.37 to trade at $65.28 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.28% to 71.035, while EUR/INR rose 0.39% to 80.7490.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.178.
