Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, IT and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 4.87% or 31.85 points to trade at 680.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 1.96% or 57.40 points to end at 2985.50 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 1.47% or 4.50 points to 309.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which fell 2.85% or 8.40 points to trade at 286.30 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 2.08% or 4.10 points to end at 193.05 and Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) was down 1.90% or 25.10 points to 1294.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 1.58% to 177.30, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 1.54% to settle at 309.65 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which gained 0.83% to close at 140.35.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 2.58% to 287.05 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.80% to settle at 1294.45 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.58% to 193.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 845 to 756 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1387 fell and 1231 advanced, while 152 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.96% or 57.40 to 2985.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.08% to 12.4350.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.40% or 4.80 to $1209.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.36% or 0.25 to hit $68.78 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.18 to trade at $76.47 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.47% to 70.595, while EUR/INR rose 0.46% to 82.3580.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.75.
