Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Power and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.39%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which rose 3.55% or 14.20 points to trade at 414.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 3.55% or 23.10 points to end at 673.00 and Grasim Industries Ltd. (NS:GRAS) was up 2.26% or 22.29 points to 1009.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which fell 2.89% or 4.90 points to trade at 164.55 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 2.31% or 13.65 points to end at 578.00 and POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA (NS:PGRD) was down 1.98% or 3.60 points to 177.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 3.48% to 414.60, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 3.03% to settle at 197.30 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 2.00% to close at 1111.10.
The worst performers were NTPC Limited (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.42% to 149.05 in late trade, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which lost 2.30% to settle at 579.15 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.90% to 1372.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 886 to 602 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1507 fell and 1311 advanced, while 126 ended unchanged.
Shares in GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.55% or 14.20 to 414.60. Shares in Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) rose to all time highs; rising 3.55% or 23.10 to 673.00. Shares in Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.48% or 13.95 to 414.60. Shares in Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.03% or 5.80 to 197.30. Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.00% or 21.80 to 1111.10.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.60% to 14.8350.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.45 to $1270.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $51.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 66.645, while EUR/INR fell 0.02% to 74.5790.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.28.
