Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Public Sector Undertakings and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.38%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 2.10% or 75.30 points to trade at 3655.20 at the close. Meanwhile, AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) added 1.54% or 8.30 points to end at 545.65 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 1.51% or 26.15 points to 1754.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which fell 4.46% or 18.55 points to trade at 396.95 at the close. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (NS:IOC) declined 2.49% or 9.90 points to end at 386.95 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was down 2.45% or 30.35 points to 1210.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 1.96% to 3653.65, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 1.57% to settle at 546.25 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.37% to close at 3255.60.
The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 2.46% to 1209.85 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 2.20% to settle at 206.75 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.77% to 1154.25 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 953 to 643 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1519 fell and 1135 advanced, while 137 ended unchanged.
Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.54% or 8.30 to 545.65. Shares in AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.57% or 8.45 to 546.25.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.85% to 14.1650 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.46% or 5.83 to $1273.07 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.37% or 0.21 to hit $56.55 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.23 to trade at $62.93 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 65.408, while EUR/INR rose 0.42% to 76.6684.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 94.21.
