Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Green Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.38%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW), which rose 3.64% or 2.65 points to trade at 75.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 2.38% or 11.90 points to end at 512.30 and Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) was up 1.57% or 5.20 points to 337.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 5.77% or 5.95 points to trade at 97.15 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) declined 5.08% or 86.05 points to end at 1607.25 and Ambuja Cements Ltd. (NS:ABUJ) was down 2.17% or 6.00 points to 270.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which rose 3.16% to 75.15, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was up 1.48% to settle at 336.95 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 1.33% to close at 229.00.
The worst performers were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 2.63% to 165.05 in late trade, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which lost 1.84% to settle at 146.35 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was down 1.81% to 1342.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 919 to 549 and 59 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 986 fell and 639 advanced, while 52 ended unchanged.
Shares in Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) fell to 3-years lows; losing 5.77% or 5.95 to 97.15. Shares in Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.38% or 11.90 to 512.30.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.34% to 14.5375.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.95 to $1339.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.58% or 0.25 to hit $43.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.17 to trade at $45.56 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 66.880, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 74.1590.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 96.31.
