Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.38%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA), which rose 2.22% or 59.75 points to trade at 2755.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) added 1.23% or 4.350 points to end at 357.650 and Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) was up 1.08% or 3.35 points to 314.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which fell 6.53% or 7.25 points to trade at 103.85 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 5.06% or 11.65 points to end at 218.60 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was down 4.29% or 16.25 points to 362.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which rose 2.51% to 2755.80, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 0.94% to settle at 570.05 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 0.88% to close at 1081.70.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 4.97% to 219.00 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 3.98% to settle at 363.45 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was down 2.14% to 139.75 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 958 to 523 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1021 fell and 609 advanced, while 51 ended unchanged.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.24% to 15.9875.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.09% or 1.25 to $1326.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.56% or 0.26 to hit $46.39 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.23 to trade at $47.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 67.160, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 74.1840.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.67.
