Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Real Estate and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.38% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 5.62% or 226.80 points to trade at 4,265.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 3.82% or 62.80 points to end at 1,705.60 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 3.12% or 60.30 points to 1,995.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NS:SHMF), which fell 81.07% or 2,277.85 points to trade at 532.00 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 4.41% or 43.30 points to end at 937.60 and Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) was down 4.18% or 103.50 points to 2,374.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 5.66% to 4,265.00, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was up 3.63% to settle at 1,703.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 3.16% to close at 1,996.20.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 4.25% to 939.25 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 3.89% to settle at 307.85 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 3.43% to 10,881.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1950 to 284 and 142 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 3021 fell and 767 advanced, while 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) rose to all time highs; rising 3.12% or 60.30 to 1,995.10. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to all time highs; up 3.16% or 61.10 to 1,996.20.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.36% to 14.86.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.68% or 18.26 to $2,709.06 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.37% or 1.75 to hit $75.67 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.37% or 1.82 to trade at $78.74 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 86.00, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 88.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 108.99.
