Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Power, Real Estate and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.37%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which rose 2.79% or 17.00 points to trade at 626.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 2.54% or 183.00 points to end at 7,386.20 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 2.21% or 33.35 points to 1,541.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which fell 4.31% or 108.20 points to trade at 2,401.40 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 1.77% or 32.85 points to end at 1,824.55 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was down 1.75% or 49.45 points to 2,782.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 2.52% to 7,384.95, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.21% to settle at 1,541.90 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.34% to close at 1,093.20.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 1.83% to 1,823.95 in late trade, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which lost 1.54% to settle at 965.75 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.35% to 185.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1066 to 902 and 73 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1919 fell and 1614 advanced, while 163 ended unchanged.
Shares in HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.79% or 17.00 to 626.55.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.55% to 11.23.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.44% or 8.75 to $1,962.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.40% or 0.29 to hit $71.64 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.25 to trade at $76.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 81.92, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 89.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 102.06.
