Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Public Sector Undertakings and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.37%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 5.26% or 144.70 points to trade at 2896.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) added 3.05% or 260.80 points to end at 8808.85 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) was up 2.78% or 10.40 points to 383.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which fell 2.86% or 880.65 points to trade at 29868.75 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 2.37% or 8.30 points to end at 341.35 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was down 3.10% or 187.25 points to 5882.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which rose 5.13% to 2893.25, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 3.01% to settle at 8792.15 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 2.73% to close at 384.00.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 2.62% to 560.35 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 2.48% to settle at 172.95 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.38% to 901.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1254 to 362 and 34 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1934 fell and 674 advanced, while 120 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.63% to 13.5700.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.14% or 1.80 to $1298.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.63% or 0.42 to hit $66.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.26 to trade at $77.82 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.42% to 67.155, while EUR/INR fell 0.31% to 78.6052.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 93.88.
