Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Auto and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN), which rose 2.14% or 16.45 points to trade at 786.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 1.56% or 61.55 points to end at 4,018.15 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 1.30% or 25.95 points to 2,029.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which fell 2.36% or 62.30 points to trade at 2,582.00 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 2.13% or 27.35 points to end at 1,259.35 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 1.95% or 8.40 points to 423.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 1.25% to 2,028.30, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 0.63% to settle at 919.40 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which gained 0.59% to close at 845.90.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 2.21% to 2,584.90 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 2.16% to settle at 1,258.25 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 1.63% to 8,985.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1149 to 715 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1913 fell and 1474 advanced, while 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.59% or 4.95 to 845.90.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.47% to 14.88.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.54% or 9.55 to $1,766.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.65% or 0.56 to hit $85.03 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.36 to trade at $92.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.21% to 81.65, while EUR/INR fell 0.08% to 84.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 106.52.
