Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Metals and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 1.93% or 6.65 points to trade at 351.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) added 1.78% or 56.40 points to end at 3,225.20 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 1.72% or 24.15 points to 1,425.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which fell 1.68% or 42.40 points to trade at 2,479.80 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 1.32% or 3.30 points to end at 246.30 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was down 1.31% or 2.30 points to 173.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 1.72% to 1,424.70, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was up 1.68% to settle at 3,222.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.19% to close at 1,424.50.
The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.76% to 2,478.65 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which lost 1.32% to settle at 246.30 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.10% to 2,687.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1041 to 951 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1756 fell and 1729 advanced, while 158 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.23% to 11.70.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.65 to $1,947.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.42% or 0.33 to hit $79.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.38 to trade at $83.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 82.57, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 89.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 103.49.
