Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Healthcare, Capital Goods and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (NS:IOC), which rose 4.02% or 6.65 points to trade at 170.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 3.73% or 15.30 points to end at 421.95 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was up 3.41% or 10.50 points to 315.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which fell 2.36% or 21.30 points to trade at 883.60 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 1.95% or 17.35 points to end at 868.40 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) was down 2.10% or 49.75 points to 2316.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which rose 1.47% to 297.55, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was up 1.22% to settle at 1032.35 and Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which gained 0.35% to close at 1853.00.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.28% to 882.10 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 1.90% to settle at 159.70 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.88% to 195.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1166 to 425 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1717 fell and 795 advanced, while 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) rose to all time highs; rising 1.22% or 12.40 to 1032.35.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.26% to 12.4475.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.73% or 9.30 to $1265.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.49% or 0.98 to hit $64.73 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.62% or 1.21 to trade at $73.53 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 68.085, while EUR/INR fell 0.37% to 78.4899.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 95.15.
