Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the IT, Auto and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.27%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 6.68% or 29.80 points to trade at 476.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 4.96% or 50.35 points to end at 1065.50 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was up 3.60% or 6.25 points to 179.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which fell 3.32% or 95.15 points to trade at 2774.00 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 3.08% or 14.30 points to end at 449.90 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was down 3.06% or 71.00 points to 2247.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 7.36% to 479.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 4.93% to settle at 1065.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 3.60% to close at 179.85.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 3.11% to 2247.00 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.51% to settle at 350.10 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 2.06% to 6006.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 962 to 656 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1390 fell and 1100 advanced, while 134 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.87% to 24.8850.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.70% or 12.90 to $1856.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.48% or 0.62 to hit $41.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.26% or 0.56 to trade at $43.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 74.575, while EUR/INR rose 0.45% to 86.2865.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 94.968.
