Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Auto and Consumer Durables sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.26%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI), which rose 2.03% or 55.20 points to trade at 2,779.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) added 0.91% or 13.70 points to end at 1,521.70 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was up 0.91% or 14.90 points to 1,652.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which fell 6.50% or 93.10 points to trade at 1,339.45 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 5.48% or 329.00 points to end at 5,678.85 and Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM) was down 4.61% or 996.75 points to 20,638.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 2.02% to 2,779.50, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.94% to settle at 1,522.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 0.85% to close at 1,651.60.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 5.49% to 5,677.40 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 2.71% to settle at 7,709.85 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 2.51% to 155.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1249 to 585 and 46 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1907 fell and 1314 advanced, while 127 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.05% to 19.90 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.19% or 3.50 to $1,867.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.66% or 0.77 to hit $116.10 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.64 to trade at $116.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.30% to 77.61, while EUR/INR rose 0.20% to 83.32.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 101.92.
