Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.26%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which rose 1.96% or 49.20 points to trade at 2569.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 2.41% or 3.95 points to end at 167.65 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 2.36% or 9.40 points to 407.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which fell 2.97% or 7.95 points to trade at 258.95 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 2.74% or 4.20 points to end at 149.70 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 2.00% or 69.05 points to 3377.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.44% to 167.70, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.41% to settle at 407.70 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 2.34% to close at 472.60.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.08% to 3377.75 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 2.06% to settle at 149.85 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.98% to 1510.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 807 to 762 and 72 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1214 fell and 1137 advanced, while 142 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.79% to 11.9975 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 1.15 to $1407.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.17% or 0.10 to hit $60.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.23 to trade at $66.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 68.660, while EUR/INR rose 0.41% to 77.2835.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 96.627.
