Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Oil & Gas and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.25% to hit a new 6-months low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which rose 4.17% or 473.20 points to trade at 11,809.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 2.21% or 8.95 points to end at 414.10 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 2.03% or 109.20 points to 5,484.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which fell 3.67% or 36.60 points to trade at 959.55 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 2.92% or 4.55 points to end at 151.40 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was down 2.15% or 3.25 points to 148.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 4.24% to 11,815.95, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was up 2.04% to settle at 5,484.85 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 0.97% to close at 1,560.15.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 3.67% to 959.70 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 2.02% to settle at 148.20 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.29% to 1,421.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1002 to 807 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1723 rose and 1460 declined, while 140 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.19% to 22.15.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.80% or 14.45 to $1,827.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.04% or 1.24 to hit $117.69 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 1.14 to trade at $120.03 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.28% to 78.16, while EUR/INR rose 0.89% to 81.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 104.62.
