Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which rose 2.31% or 176.20 points to trade at 7791.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 1.98% or 47.65 points to end at 2453.95 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.75% or 2.35 points to 136.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which fell 3.75% or 51.25 points to trade at 1313.65 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) declined 2.34% or 16.10 points to end at 672.85 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was down 2.28% or 40.85 points to 1748.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 2.36% to 7792.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.95% to settle at 2453.20 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.75% to close at 136.65.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 3.74% to 1314.50 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.49% to settle at 1171.40 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.44% to 2500.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1110 to 621 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1898 rose and 1241 declined, while 137 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.00% to 17.0625.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 2.30 to $1793.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.17% or 0.14 to hit $83.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $84.67 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 74.715, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 86.6545.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.940.
