Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.22%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which rose 3.51% or 34.70 points to trade at 1,021.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 3.12% or 35.40 points to end at 1,168.90 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was up 1.76% or 144.45 points to 8,351.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which fell 4.25% or 68.80 points to trade at 1,550.50 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 4.21% or 278.20 points to end at 6,324.25 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) was down 2.03% or 52.60 points to 2,536.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 2.95% to 1,167.40, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 1.60% to settle at 784.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 1.34% to close at 1,573.00.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 4.12% to 1,552.65 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 4.05% to settle at 6,333.00 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 2.12% to 2,533.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1544 to 620 and 39 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2469 fell and 1233 advanced, while 88 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) rose to all time highs; up 3.51% or 34.70 to 1,021.90. Shares in State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.60% or 12.35 to 784.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.64% to 14.38 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.40% or 8.60 to $2,134.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $78.74 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $82.87 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 82.90, while EUR/INR fell 0.05% to 89.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 103.82.
