Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Public Sector Undertakings and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.21%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which rose 9.89% or 71.35 points to trade at 793.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 4.67% or 110.90 points to end at 2485.00 and Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) was up 4.36% or 12.80 points to 306.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 3.79% or 18.65 points to trade at 473.00 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 3.10% or 13.30 points to end at 415.45 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was down 3.00% or 106.40 points to 3438.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which rose 10.08% to 793.70, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 4.69% to settle at 2485.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 3.09% to close at 788.55.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.79% to 473.00 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 2.99% to settle at 3437.50 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.20% to 171.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1184 to 420 and 93 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1781 rose and 889 declined, while 171 ended unchanged.

(NS:TCS) rose to all time highs; rising 4.67% or 110.90 to 2485.00. Shares in Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.36% or 12.80 to 306.10. Shares in HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.08% or 72.65 to 793.70. Shares in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) rose to 3-years highs; up 4.69% or 111.30 to 2485.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.31% to 21.1900.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 3.70 to $1951.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.38% or 0.14 to hit $37.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.17 to trade at $39.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 73.448, while EUR/INR rose 0.16% to 87.1985.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 93.020.
